How To Select A Wig

Questions to ask before buying a wig:

Do I want a human hair or synthetic wig?

Human hair wigs are beautiful and feel very natural to the touch. One of the advantages of a human hair wig is that you can change the style of it each time you shampoo it. The disadvantage to a human hair wig is that you have to style it each time it is shampooed.

What’s required to clean a human hair wig?

Fill basin with cool soapy water, and place the wig in it, letting soak for 10 minutes. Rinse until water is clear. In the basin, add conditioner to ends of hair then rinse with cold water again. Comb it out and let air dry until it’s more than half dry. Blow dry and style!

What’s required to clean a synthetic wig?

Synthetic wigs are usually light weight and breathable. There are lots of choices of colors and styles. The care for a synthetic wig is easy. Simply fill a basin with cool soapy water submerge the wig and let soak for 10 minutes. Rinse until water is clear. Towel blot to absorb most of the water. Spray with conditioner. Shake it out and let it dry. The wig will resume its same style.

What about scalps?

Both Hunan hair and synthetic wigs have a variety of scalps from mono-top (natural looking scalp), mono part (natural looking scalp in part only.) and 100℅ hand tied (which will give you a natural scalp overall.) Machine made and wefted are more detectable and less natural looking.

Cost variation?

All styles are created to support a certain hairstyle and price ranges. Human hair is significantly higher in price, due to the demand on human hair to make wigs, hair pieces and extensions.

You can also find some wigs that are 70% synthetic and 30% Human and they look just as natural as most human hair wigs. They usually can be styled with heat no higher than 320°.

Do all wigs fit all heads?

The answer to that is no. People have all shapes and sizes of heads. Everyone head should be measured before looking at wigs. Most people fall into petite, average and large. Most wigs are made in average size. There are much fewer wigs in petite and large. Wigs can also be altered some to fit larger and smaller heads.
